Shall we use this thread to discuss any suggestions about protocols and procedures surrounding the game?

Just received a PM from a member of the other team, our opponents, requesting insight into the discussions in our private forum area (and providing some trivial information about theirs). Since I have never been in touch with this player before, I guess he might be PM-ing all of us about this.
Can I suggest that everything we write here in our private area stays private, at least until the end of the game? I think the game will be most enjoyable if we don't reveal any of our thought processes, however trivial, until we finish playing. Or do others disagree with this? |

We have no reason to give it to him. They did post a screenshot of the thread titles. Nothing helpful in it.
A screenshot of ours wouldn't be helpful either. |

I agree with keeping our discussions private. I too received the PM from Raman. He earlier posted that he was no longer participating due to the slowness of the game, but I guess he changed his mind. I plan to ignore his PM.

Just a minor issue to make sure that we don't get accused of cheating:
Should we formally declare that Richs' brother is a member of our team and make that known to our opponents and Serge (Batalov)? Perhaps our opponents have the right to know that our official team member's brother is also involved in helping us find the right move? Or am I blowing this out of proportion? How much can richs playing games with his brother from the current game position be construed as getting outside help? It has been agreed in public discussions that new people can join either team, and I haven't seen any rule that team members are required to be members of mersenneforum.org. So if we declare the new team member, is that then legal and above board? Serge, if you're reading this, please feel free to express your view as well. |

Just to be clear, I did not discuss the moves with my brother, just played him as an opponent. He is not a member of the forum. If this is not allowed, I will cease and desist!

I think we should quite possibly post this in the open thread just to be open.

Hmmm, yes, quite possibly. I like openness too. Then again, if our impartial referee has no problem with playing games against humans, is there any point in attracting possible hot headedness about it from the other side? I don't know.:ermm: |

The rules as they stand are sort of scattered throughout the thread. Should discussion with other humans be allowed? |
