I am hardly a GIMPS newbie!
What suits me is low first time LLs; this maximizes my chance of finding a prime per unit time, and I know how to get them.

At midnight UTC ~100 59M expos were dished out simply because 3000 lower ones were being hoarded for TF. This is not the way to encourage the LL wave to advance faster than the completion rate (currently ~1800 per week).

TFing is best handled by a few specialists (e.g. GPUto7x) but sustaining an expectation of a prime every 5 years requires mass LL participation, and this is what I wish we would encourage with a tadge more altruism.

What use is primenet-assigned TFing of 60M+ expos to 71, apart from hindering GPUto7x?

Would you point to the general area where these assignments exist? Available GPU72 TF assignments start with 60M. I am sure there are plenty of others besides me in the group who would jump at the chance to TF 49-50M exponents.

Yo know, Dave is right, when I joined GIMPS all LL assignments I got were in 15M-20M or even lower. It is not fair that the people who join now gets 60M LL assignments. Let's give them the same chance!

So, assignments in 15M range for every newcomer!

(after checking yesterday, in fact I did a lot of work in 12M-13M too, and my lowest ever exponent which I did is 12559777, this was a DC assignment)
