We went down to Crescent City, California in the Redwoods, but got a bit concerned over the clouds gathering at the coast in mid-afternoon and ended up driving to Cave Junction, Oregon to watch it. We had a great view, mostly clear with a couple spells of haze, but quite clear for the ring phase. This was my third annular eclipse. I've also seen two total eclipses, near Winnipeg in 1979 and Mexico in 1991. The August 21 2017 path of totality goes through 14 states, from Oregon to South Carolina, so plan on being there!

I was in the path of totality, but since I didn't have enough advance notice, I couldn't get time off work.
I did get a chance to go outside a couple of times and share a pair of eclipse glasses; I did not get to see the annulus, though.
