A pinkie is a newborn mouse; the name comes from the fact that they are pink and hairless. Generally they are only a few hours to a day old. It's a little unsettling to think that they are essentially born to die, but you know...circle of life 'n all that. As cute as the baby snake is, in the wild, a bird would probably gobble it up in a heartbeat.
