Well, I can understand you, so good enough. Certainly beats my Russian.
I'm currently a Freshman (first year student, age 18) at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, a.k.a. Champaign-Urbana, a.k.a. Chambana. (Urbana and Champaign are twin cities around a three hours' drive south of Chicago, in Illinois (duh)). I am also a physics major (who hates experiments) ![]() Ask away. |

Why you hate experiments? :D
Very interesting what courses you're listening to. What do you think about the The Feynman Lectures on Physics? Do you know about the course of Theoretical Physics by Landau and Lifshitz? :) What areas are you interested in physics? What areas of physics involved in your university? |

I have read a better part of half of the ten volumes of Landau and Lifshitz. Now, twenty years later, it saddens me to think that I've never used any of that knowledge.

There are ex-university folks here too...though my emphasis was on EE/CS...and my work is in the practice of power electronics. I thank infineon/eupec for providing the semiconductors that make it possible....

I like math; I hate arithmetic, or number crunching, which is primarily what experimentalists do. Statistics makes me cringe.
In English you should probably say "taking courses". (In French, you "follow courses".) Were you asking me what courses I'm taking at the moment? Quote:

(I hate to say it, but the discrete sort of math that pervades this forum is second least interesting form of mathematics to me, behind statistics.) If I wasn't a physics major, I'd be a math major. (Otherwise I'd be a Computer Science or Aeronautical Engineering major, or after those maybe a music or linguistics major. So much to do, so little time!) I don't want the friendship of Michael David Barrett.
