How many... ?

Out of curiosity, does anybody keep track of (or is there a way to find out) how many CPUs of a given description are participating in GIMPS at any given time?

I'd be interested in knowing things such as (but not only) how many quad-core machines are donating cycles (and how much); or at least how many =/> 3.0GHz cores are participating and how many GHz-days they are contributing to the total, percentage-wise.

Figured the PrimeNet subforum would be a logical place to ask, but I'm willing to go to another section if this is not the right place.

Unless you ask George to do a database query (which may or may not actually have the info requested), your best bet is to look at http://www.mersenne.org/primenet/ . I generally consider the number of computers that reported in the last month to be a fairly accurate estimate of total throughput, i.e. ~27.000 comps. (Note that this is a small fraction (understatement) of the ~550,000 comps registered.)

Prime95 posted stats on what type of CPU a few years ago. It might have just been from v4 of primenet though. Pretty certain it only went upto Pentium 4s as well although it might have been improved since.

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately, that page provides only aggregate figures. I'd like to know the percentage of teraflops contributed by, say, CPU cores running at between 2.0 and 2.999 GHz. Given the wealth of cool and esoteric data available for this project, I'd be surprised if nobody is keeping track of this sort of thing.

Maybe asking George is the best way to go.

Let me elaborate: That information is (apparently) stored in PrimeNet's large database, and is accessible. Problem: Accessible only by Messrs Woltman and Kurowski, the latter of whom I've never seen in my relatively short tenure here.

There was a known problem when V5 started of computers getting duplicated (hence George adding the option to merge CPUs)

my statistics tell me I have 14 computers used for the TF LL and P-1 I've done unless I changed my IP a lot I don't see how that is ( if I remember correct it's only been 2 computers)

It's the GUID that identifies it, not the IP (most residential IPs don't even use static IPs).
Apparently upgrading Windows or whatever these all are change the GUID. Or something.

Also changing or adding a video card. I decided to add my 6770 to my 2500 since it has room for 3 and got a mismatch error when I restarted.
