No, they don't need to. It would be a more ideal world if they did, yes, but this is not an ideal world. I realise it annoys you to see people arriving with misapprehensions and then losing them; there are people here which it doesn't annoy, and so you should keep your mouth shut and let the tolerant people answer. Expressing annoyance never helps.

They do not need to in an absolute sense, but they do need to do so
if they desire not to look foolish.

Go read Andre Toom's essay on pseudo-education in the U.S.

The problem is not specific to mathematics.

And if educators never speak about the problem nothing will ever
be done about it. Speaking may not help, but saying nothing is
certain to not help.
