Except that each 10M range will be slightly quicker until the 290M range which will take about 40% less time than the 200M range.

Since 200M to 210M took t = 18 days, we can estimate that the time from 210M to 220M should be around (200/210)t, &c. up to the time from 290M to 300M being around (200/290)t.

That is, the time from 200M to 300M should be roughly given by

[1 + (20/21)+(20/22)+(20/23)+(20/24)+...+(20/29)]t, or

18 + 20*18*sum(1/n), where n = 21, 22, 23, ... , 29, or

18 + 0.36391*360 = 149.0076 days.

149 days from April 29 (when we entered the 200M range) is September 25. You had it after all .

Late on June 3 (US EDT), PrimeNet began handing out assignments in the 220M range. That's 18 days to clear out 200-210M, and another 17 days to clear out 210-220M.

Expected time to clear out 210-220M would be between (200/210)*18 and (210/220)*18, or between 17.14 and 17.18 days.

... or just using the 10M range midpoints gives (205/215)*18 = 17.16 for 210-220M range.

Then for the 220M-230M range, we have (205/225)*18 = 16.4, (215/225)*17 = 16.2, or (210/225)*35/2 = 16.3

If I make a big assumption that the LMH participation rate continues --- and that Monst continues to clear out 700M; Lindee/d et al clear out 900M and GIMPS Visualization continues in other ranges then "you heard it here first" ... LMH will:
- Reach 300M by mid September 2011
- Reach 400M by early October 2011
- Reach 500M by mid October 2011
- Reach 600M by early November 2011
- 700M will be complete to 65 bits by then by Monst
- Reach 800M by early December 2011
- 900M will be completed to 65 bits by then by Lindee/d et al
- Complete all exponents (above 100M) to 65 bits by year end 2011
4 week update

Code:

Range	5/12	6/9	Diff	Months at this rate(linear)
100	4731	1631	3100	0.5
200	2172394	1829524	342870	5.0
300	700258	700244	14	46682.9
400	992048	991574	474	1952.5
500	1531777	1417602	114175	11.6
600	990644	963145	27499	32.7
700	1308779	1031806	276973	3.5
800	995266	993315	1951	475.2
900	847465	735785	111680	6.1
Updated prediction about a month behind:
LMH reach 300M mid Oct
Reach 400M early Nov
Reach 500M mid Nov
Reach 600M early Dec (Chalsall will have most of 500M done by then)
Reach 700M late Dec
Reach 800M late Dec (700M complete by Monst before then)
Reach 900M mid Jan
Done mid Jan (Lindee/d complete 900M by then)

Crossed over 240M yesterday morning (July 8th). That's 17 days to finish 230-240M.

July 25th - now in 250M (aka one quarter billion) territory. 17 days to finish 240-250M.

Should get to 300M right around All Hallows Eve.

Question What ranges are available?

Hi all! I'm new to this and find it fascinating, but unfortunately somewhat confusing. I'd like to participate, but am unsure what ranges are available. I tried to find the answer in this forum, but it seems to me the "Ranges Available" thread is quite dated. Could anyone perhaps suggest one for me? I've got a brand new Intel i7 870 I'm itching to get started working on this project.

Presuming you're wishing to search for small factors in the higher ranges (what's known as LMH'ing, even though we're not actually hunting for Mersenne primes), the easiest thing to do is to configure the client for that work type -- "TF-LMH - trial factoring LMH". Your machine will then automatically be assigned work at the lowest point of the server coordinated LMH range -- currently 253M.

If, on the other hand, you want to do "Independent LMH" work, please see post #11 on this thread. Basically, 500-600M, 700-800M and 900-1000M are currently being worked by "lumberjacks".

There is also a small amount of work being done in the 600-700M and 800-900M range, although I haven't bothered to figure out by who. The 400-500M range is not receiving any work at the moment.

Hope that helps. And welcome to GIMPS!!!

There is a lot of room in the 300 range.
Read this thread: http://mersenneforum.org/showthread.php?t=11308
Use the checkbox to exclude currently assigned exponents.
