Republicans being a party that spreads hatred of minorities.

Once upon a time it was Irish. or Italians. or Jews. or Japanese, etc.

The only thing these groups have in common is that they are minorities.
Republicans maintain their political power by spreading hatred, intolerance,
discrimination, and fear among their supporters.

I'm not a Republican, but the key difference here is that being a muslim is a choice, not something that you're born with and defines you for the rest of your life. You can't change your race, sexual orientation, or gender, but you can certainly change your religion at any time.

There is nothing wrong with loyalty oaths. When an immigrant wants to become a citizen, don't they also have to swear an oath that renounces their allegiance to their previous country? If muslims are sick of being profiled and targeted, all they have to do is drop their religion. This doesn't work for any other minority group. Blacks can't "turn white", and gays can't "turn straight".

And before anyone thinks I'm singling out muslims, I would require the same thing for members of any organized religion. Church and state should remain separate, and nobody should be allowed to set laws and policies based on their personal religious beliefs.
