It's kind of a good thing I didn't order the whole system yet....xubuntu 10.10 isn't doing well with the GEForce GTX440 drivers. I'm wondering how to make that coexist with the on-motherboard ATI Radeon graphics in my AMD 6-core phenom II system that runs on the ASRock 880GM/LE mobo with 8Gig of RAM, with the idea of not actually using the graphics output from the GTX440.
I'm out of bandwidth tonight; the day started early. |

Got the graphics part up, though X11 doesn't quite seem to understand properly about two adjacent windows...the mouse crosses over OK, but windows don't.
some combination of Boot into safe mode service gdm stop Xorg -configure service gdm stop playing around with an Xorg.conf.new that showed up (setting the nvidia driver module and using lspci to ensure it didn't get pointed at the ATI Radeon on-board graphics) adding an ubuntu archive seems to have worked. I'm having trouble with nv-cc not being on the path right now, probably just need to kill my terminal window and resurrect it to proceed. |
