My parents got me a Moblin netbook for taking care of the dog for a week or so. While I appreciate the gift very much, I don't appreciate Intel for the way they programmed the privacy features.
See, there's this thing called favorite pages. It tracks your favorite pages and puts a little thumbnail of your favorites at the bottom of the page when you first click to go to the Internet. The problem is you can't turn it off, EVEN WHEN YOU GO TO USE ANONYMOUS SETTINGS. So now that my parents want to borrow my netbook, they're going to find out that my favorite thing to look at after youtube videos is pornographic videos. Apparently, when you turn on the privacy feature, the very first site you go to is recorded, but nothing after that, and it only seems to remember a couple weeks worth of sites. Not soon enough to solve my problem, but I'm thinking when I go to private surfing, I could enter Google, then when it comes up, enter my actual site. Just a heads up for anyone considering Moblin. If you want an update as to whether my trick actually works, just ask. You can ask in a PM if you want, I won't share who made the request when I post the answer. |
