I haven't managed to get the kids' PC back on yet, so I expect your total will be higher. The only way I had managed to stay in front of you was by overclocking my quad but I couldn't stand the noise so I'm at stock again.

Ah, I see. BTW, regarding overclocking: I'm surprised it made a difference as far as noise goes. I have my Q6600 overclocked from 2.4>2.8Ghz and while it definitely runs hotter than at stock, the fan was just as noisy either way when the CPU's at 100%. Of course, you surely have a different cooler than I, so it's possible its fan levels are at different temperature points and the overclocking is just enough to push it over the top.

It's a Q6700 so runs at 2.66. It's stable to 3.27 (or used to be at least) but the noise is too much. (I only tried to 3.05 yesterday.) I think it's the PSU fan that is noisier. I might try again at about 2.8. (And/or get a Sandy Bridge. I have a spare case and HD so I could get a i7-2600k Linux box for c. £500. Purely for prime stuff via TeamViewer.) (I've worn out the () keys.)

Ah, okay, that would make sense then...if you had to up the voltage at all, the PSU would heat up more. For my overclock, it was stable at the default voltage (which was good since I'd have had no idea how to change the voltage anyway ).

The rally has ended, and Lennart (sm5ymt) has won by a large margin in terms of k/n pairs tested. As expected, PRPnet beat LLRnet in pairs tested and primes found.

The most interesting result was the individual race for most primes. Despite the large difference in number of candidates tested, there was a three way tie between Lennart, Flatlander, and Ralf Recker. Overall, we found 11 primes, and more pairs were tested on the last day than on the first two days combined. The verification of primes and the checking of twins will be done by tomorrow.

Looks like I came in second overall--way cool! This was the first time I've ever placed that high in any rally anywhere. (Though to be fair, it's kind of an apples-with-oranges scenario on more than one level to compare this with rallies on other projects. Still, it is kind of cool. )
