Default GIMPS software for Sony PS/2 Linux?

Now that Linux on the Sony PS/2 is out any thoughts on adding a GIMPS client for that? Just curious actually, but it'd be interesting to see how that processor does.

It is a MIPS III at 300MHz...

There is already a PS2 client for dnet...

I think it would be way too slow, and it only has 16MB of memory... The memory is RDRAM, which is pretty cool...

Should be OK for trial factoring.
I don't remember how well the MIPS stands up on floating point - might be OK for second-LL stuff?

I believe it has 2 vector units that does the 3d calculations :D

Here's an interesting read from Ars on the PS/2 Emotion Engine http://www.arstechnica.com/cpu/2q00/ps2/ps2vspc-1.html and another one here http://www.arstechnica.com/reviews/1q00/playstation2/ee-1.html

This was an interesting quote from the first article:
Quote:
The PS2 has two dedicated 128-bit SIMD floating-point vector units, VU0 and VU1, each of which are able to process massive amounts of data per clock cycle. In addition, the MIPS III CPU core on the Emotion Engine can do 128-bit integer SIMD by locking together its two 64-bit integer pipes. So the PS2 fits the profile of having multiple parallel SIMD units connected by high-bandwidth pipes.
