I'd never read this one. The title put me off.

Thank's, I'd been meaning to see if I could find an an electronic copy that I could look at but hadn't got around to it. Hmmm, both a Hugo and Nebula award winning story. As a kid, I didn't set much store by that kind of thing but nowadays find good awards or the like that lifts something up for special consideration to be quite helpful.

I did find that Project Gutenberg has organized a decent Science Fiction bookshelf http://www.gutenberg.org/wiki/Scienc...ion_(Bookshelf)
Among the digital resources that I have enjoyed also stands Baen Books.

I wonder if a book reading club +ish thread could gain traction around here.

And as we might expect "This is an application only event". So all you have to do is pretend you are a diehard believer in the Steorn OU and you'll be in.
I'm very likely nearest to this event on this board. But I have better things to do with my time on a Saturday morning. Like a 100k bike ride

That sounds very expensive - 100k, what, are you sponsoring a whole team? The "Sean Kelly tribute squad" rides again...

Cold Fusion getting hot with 10kw heater prepping for market
Quote:
... Professor Sergio Focardi and Eng. Andrea A. Rossi, both of the University of Bologna, announced to the world that they have a cold fusion device capable of producing more than 10 kilowatts of heat power, while only consuming a fraction of that. This is the first public demonstration of a nickel-hydrogen fusion reactor capable of producing a few kilowatts of thermal energy. At its peak, it is capable of generating 15,000 watts with just 400 watts input required.

Default It's baaaaaaaaaaack (cold fusion)

http://www.physorg.com/news/2011-01-...ion-video.html

If your first reaction was to blurt out, "Oh, baloney" - you'd be right.

So the question is: Is this for real, or another Steorn-style startup?

But hey, at least the Bolognese-boys published something ... Journal of Nuclear Physics, sounds impressive.

I posted a slightly better link for that same story just 5 posts ago.
