Ah, the Strugatsky brothers: a shape of science fiction very different from the Western one, but also good. I've just read a translation of Monday Begins on Saturday - a very oddly marketed one, calling it the Russian Harry Potter, but intriguing. Obviously also Roadside Picnic; are the others good too?

Hard to be a God is interesting, and produced a couple of movies too.

All of them are good; the brothers had some certain style that resonated very well. The storytelling force is strong with them; and there's usually good deal of philosophy. Especially the later ones, like 'The Snail on the Slope' *

Arggh, awful marketing. Tale of the Troika (a very different sequel, same characters) was much more to my liking; it was only published in Samizdat at the time.

Also, Tarkovsky's 'Stalker' is a loose screenplay for a part of one of the novels. A special collaboration.

Neither Champion, nor miss; guess we oughtn't to complain. I've finished
3t55 on 2p997 C287, which is next up on the 16e queue after 6,379+ C270
finishes. Soon, we hear(?). -Bruce

Off-topic news: Jayson's found a super polyn for 2p956 C187 gnfs, which
is being floated as a possible forum project.

Default Champion, too

It is still the 2nd line champion in size!

(The 2nd line championship in snfs difficulty is eclipsed with 2,1127- that went unregistered in the champion tables.)

That poll is now closed. As I had observed already, many people who had
visited this thread, did not vote for any option at all!

Ok, is there any way (or best way) to determine the probability that a number
of this size splits up into three factors, than that into two factors (or more than
four factors), we already know that this number was not prime, before initiating
to do with any work upon this number.

It seems that the probability that number of this size splits up into three factors
is much more than any of that individual options that are being listed up for that
poll over here... though that many of the people did not vote for that option of
splitting up into three factors at all!

Congrats !!!!

The log file is very impressive !

If only I have played "Euromillion": the second best estimation would have been enough to me...

1. Well, it should be. :-) It is too easy too make predictions, especially about the past. (The inverse of the famous aphorism.) The poll locked itself on a time bomb (I did set it to 10 days, and at least with this prediction, I was spot on! )

2. Yeah, that's called lurking. And a good thing, too.
