I came across this article on arxiv, appears to be from today:

The claim here is pretty serious. I'm skeptical this is any good. Does his method have any grounds to stand on?

The approach seems plausible, but there isn't enough info to

I'm surprised there hasn't been more discussion about this; something claiming to be the asymptotically fastest known factoring method should deserve some attention (even if it's only to show it's complete nonsense). Unfortunately I know nothing about modular forms, so I can't really determine anything about the validity of this claim.
