Making an iPhone app...any ideas?

Hi all,

A developer friend and I are planning to write an iPhone app but we have no idea what the program should do. We intend to attach a cost to it, but we are also content if the app is free.

One of our ideas was originally to make an Mlucas port to the iPhone, but this idea does not serve to be very practical.... (iPhone battery would not last very long and Mlucas cannot run in the background).

Anyway, if you guys have any ideas, post them here!

Make a portable text encryptor-decryptor with a bunch of algorithms(with AES, ofc). You can also make it encrypt files.

Thanks for the reply! But what audience are you aiming for this idea to be presented to? From what I see, it doesn't seem that such an app would be very useful.

Haha well I certainly know I'd use it ;) but not a bad idea. I just hope that if such an app comes out hopefully people will buy it for $0.99! which I doubt will be the case...

I don't have an Iphone but maybe a genealogical app ? trying to think of others lol.

I don't have an iPhone either, but how about a steganography app? Take a picture with the camera, then encode either a small file or a bunch of text into it, and send the picture to someone else. Attachments should be encrypted, and the rest of the image should be filled out with random data, to properly hide the attachment.

Maybe look in the online store for the iPhone and see what others are doing. Then do something else.

(Though I think you'd find that step 2 will be extraordinarily difficult)

I think that's a fantastic idea, though probably fairly hard to code properly. You don't want to make the lower-order bits look 'too random' or the steganography will be too easy to detect...

If you have iTunes, you can view Stanford University's online lectures on developing iPhone applications. The lectures are free, by the way.
