From your words, I'm picking up an important distinction. It appears the number my machine is working on at the one year deadline would be assigned to another user, while at the same being allowed to continue to it's completion on my machine. That wasn't initially clear to me, since I thought the reassignment essentially meant, "you're taking too long, forget it." Provided my new interpretation is correct, I'll just let the current configuration proceed.

The time estimates given on the assignment sheet says 494 days for the LL. I also got the "WARNING:" message on the communication thread for the LL assignment:

What type of CPU are you running that on?

I just retired the Pentium II 266 that had been running this project nonstop for years for the big time in this:

When the Pentium II was doing LL work many years ago before it changed itself to TF, each one would take forever.

It runs warm around the blower ports, sure. The heat conducts up and around the left edge of the machine and makes it to the letter "S." I think the CPU is running full blast (51% on XP task manager) with these TFs. Will LLs push it hotter that TFs? It is indeed an Acer netbook with the N270 CPU. Even with this thing running red hot, it has to use less power than the old Dell desktop with the Pentium II. It didn't exactly blow cold air out it multiple blower vents.

Don't trust prime95's estimate for an Atom. Instead, run Advanced/Time on exponent 45000000 for say 100 iterations. This will give you a much more accurate estimate.

Here are the results of a timing test with 45,000,000 & 100 iterations:

According to windows task manager, the CPU ran at 50% on the first round and 100% on the second round. Hopefully the software will pick the second method. I still don't have a definitive answer to my original question. Will the server instruct my machine to dump it's work after the one year deadline if/when the exponent is reassigned or will it be allowed to proceed to completion?

You can set that in the software. Go to Test -> Worker Windows

The server will not tell your machine to dump the number.

Cool beans on the reassignment issue. I'll see what happens when it hits the LL assignment and make sure it uses one worker with two threads. I checked the current software settings just now and they are set to run one worker window, priority 1. Worker window one specifics are: First time tests, CPU affinity set to any, and use 2 CPUS. I think these settings are correct to get it use use as much CPU as possible.

The point is your machine is so slow it is better suited to TF work. The message you got is trying to tell you you should probably have stayed with TF work.
