USA came back from 2-0 at the half to tie against Slovenia 2-2.
It seems likely that England will beat both Algeria and Slovenia. If the USA also beats Algeria, USA will get into the knockout round. I'll be back in the States for the next week or so. I'll let you know if I find any interest in the World Cup. William |

First the Spanish Armada hits the rocks, now today the Bismarck is sunk by its captain's Dummkopf foul. U.S. ran into some wacky refereeing today, all hinges on the 3rd game. in that group. |

I think the US team and fans should view the unfortunate refereeing incident in game 2 as simply being a mirror image of the incredible good fortune of seeing England's goalie fail to completely stop the ball in game 1.
(Of course, had neither occurred, USA would now have three points instead of two.) |

How can that be a 40 pounds win ? As I understand it (and I may be wrong about this) you lost 10 ponds on your bet of a draw, but won 37,50 ponds on the Algeria win.

The result was a 0-0 draw, not an Algeria win. So davieddy won £45 from betting on the draw and lost £5 from betting on the Algeria win.

but apparently it was a lacklustre 0-0. I went to the bookies this morning, and they handed me 60 ponds. Not wanting to look a gifthorse in the mouth, I raised half an eyebrow: Spam-type promotional offer? Accidently returned my losing stake on Algeria? No. Looks like 5/1 to me replied the young man. It is a bit complicated for me : I was born from Dutch parents in Rome, was educated in France, live since 37 years in Belgium, was a Dutch national until 2008, since then I have the Belgian nationality. Of my several "home" countries, three are in the world-cup (had to do a bit of research there). One is doing badly (France), another hasn't really played yet (Italy), another seems OK on the scoreboard but did not impress (the Netherlands), and Belgium did not qualify. As for me ... I do not play football.
So :If you want. (Although I think it is the person that has been "touched" that should say it.) Jacob |
