Thank you kar_bon those links are useful.

My network problems continue. It seems the ethernet connected machines have a problem with the DNS server unable to be resolved. But my wifi enabled machines are connecting fine. Weird.

I'll try to fix it tomorrow when I'm not so tired.

I've had this problem for quite sometime on various servers (GB's, IB's and Free-DC's), using the numerical IP seems to resolve the problem.

Ok its resolved now.

Dummy here found the problem was the ethernet cable from the ADSL router to the 24 port switch was not fully plugged in. It was loose and fell out when I touched it. Explains why the wifi was good and the wired machines were off-line.

I really need to get some new cable end plugs so they click home nicely.

OK so when does the rally start? ... Oops, its already over.

We'll do another in about a month. I'll see if I can advertise it more ahead of time.

What does everyone think about another rally the weekend of June 4th thru 6th? Same server; same format. We had a successful rally last time but this time around, I'll get the word out a little sooner in hopes of attracting some more new people.

That sounds good. It's enough after Memorial Day (for the uninitiated, a US holiday the last Monday in May) that it shouldn't collide with anybody's vacations. And this time, since both the LLRnet and PRPnet servers are set up and working smoothly well in advance, we shouldn't have to do any last-minute scrambling to get our end ready. (Plus that will make it easier on me: it's much easier for me to switch my quad to another PRPnet server than to change applications entirely.)

When were you thinking of starting the primary advertising push? I'm thinking sometime between this week and next for an initial announcement on the various team forums would be a good idea.

Gary that date looks good.

By the 4th of the month BOINC Simap tasks should have been allocated and their cache run dry. (Simap releases batches of work at the start of each month and rapidly runs out).
