I think the best way to help the project is to run some candidates, not to steal it. The project has a good server, a good client and has two dedicated crunchers that must be call to the discussion.

The Riesel side is way back from the Sierpinski side so a good way to help would be to bring back the Riesel side.
I'll be running this for a week and I hope you talkers to the same.

Agreed now that I know there is some activity on it. But the last time I ran the project, the client was old and so the tests took 9000 secs. What testing times are you getting now with Karsten's new client?

Since the project isn't dead, if one of the admins wants to rename this thread, feel free to.

Might I suggest:
Resting project
Stunned project
Pinin' (for the fjords) project
Lovely plumage on the Norwegian project, innit?

I'm not really trying to say the project is dead and people are stupidly insisting it's not, just making a bit of a joke of it. :)

>perhaps not dead but I don't think the orginal creators have any say anymore...
I'd consider myself in the same boat when it comes to the projects I've been heavily involved in in the past.

Rover shows that it is not dead:

Congratulations to his finding.

Well, it still looks kind of dead or dormant. It's been many days since the prime and it hasn't been added to the appropriate threads or web pages nor has it been removed from k's remaining.

Bump to at least one of the admins here.

CRUS has the following drives going on:

1-Bases 501-1024 reservations/statuses/primes
2-Bases 251-500 reservations/statuses/primes
3-Sierp base 6 - team drive #3
4-Conjectures with one k remaining
5-Bases 101-250 reservations/statuses/primes
6-Sierp base 63 - team drive #5
7-Bases 4-32 reservations/statuses/primes
8-Bases 33-100 reservations/statuses/primes
9-Sierp/Riesel base 2 even-n/odd-n conjectures
10-Riesel base 16 - team drive #2
11-Riesel base 6 - team drive #4 - EIGHT OR BUST!
12-Sierp base 16 - team drive #1
13-Sierp base 22 - PRPnet mini-drive
14-Sierp base 3 reservations/statuses/primes
15-Riesel base 3 reservations/statuses/primes

15 DRIVES!!! Why you want to steal base 5 to CRUS? How many processors are now dedicated to CRUS project? Don't you think CRUS has more drives than people can handle?

Agreed, we do have quite enough on our plate already--we'd be more than happy if the base 5 project revitalizes on its own. It's just that if it's going to sit here dead, it would be at least better to have it part of CRUS where it will see *some* attention rather than none. (Granted, it is getting some LLRnet activity right now, but the question remains as to whether there will be enough admin participation to ensure that the results don't just go to waste.)

Even with no real Admin available at the moment the results do not go to waste. And if a prime is found even when it looks like not being removed in reality all remaining tests for that k will be removed from the distribution queues automatically. So there is no waste of resources!!!!

Ah, you're right, I do see that the latest prime k has been removed from the status page now. When you say it's removed from the distribution queues, though, do you mean that it's actually removed from the LLRnet server, or just future batches of work to be automatically loaded into the server?
