No one knows what happened to MooooMoo, and none of us will probably ever know.
But one thing is clear: he would have wanted this project to continue on. Right before he left, he could have done many things to kill the project: delete all important posts, lock the range reservation thread, sabotage the reservations and data, or simply say that he didn't want the twin search to continue. Alternatively, he could have ignored all activity in this forum while continuing to participate in other projects. As you know, none of that happened. If he's dead, I'm sure that he would not have wanted this project to die with him. So I'm doing my best to ensure that TPS lives on. If that means devoting all of the computing power I have (it's not much, unfortunately) for this, fine. If that means managing all of the reservations and stats, fine. All I'm asking and hoping for is that a few old members come back to crunch, and a few new folks try this project out. I know a lot of you are hesitant because I'm new, because TPS hasn't achieved much yet this year, and/or because you're afraid that the work will be lost or end up useless, like the n=500000 effort. But please give it a try. This might sound corny, but I promise you that I will devote myself to this project as long as I'm alive and have enough money to pay for an internet connection. So far, I've put the most work into TPS this year, and if it dies again, the person who loses the most is me. |
