Default Dead project?

Is this project officially dead?

CRUS would be willing to consider taking a look into what it would take to incorporate it into its project. We'd need to negotiate how primes should be reported, how the transition should occur, when and if some of the base 5 web pages need to be updated or kept up to date, etc.

At the very least, this project should consider using the new LLRnet client that NPLB admins have developed, which uses the new LLR 3.8. It should easily work for other bases, although I would not recommend it for very low n-values, i.e. n<1K, but that doesn't apply here. It would speed up testing 3-5 times. No server changes are needed.

I thought that PrimeGrid was going to take this over. They certainly have the resources (BOINC) and the users for it.

Hmm...as I recall it was discussed but I don't think anything ever came of it. At any rate, there doesn't seem to be any word of it on the PrimeGrid web site (they haven't set up a subforum in their forums for it, for instance).

Possibly an email/PM to one of PrimeGrid's administrators would be a good idea; if they're not planning to take it on any time soon, CRUS could absorb the base and at least start getting it rolling. Then if PrimeGrid wanted to come along at some later date and take it off our hands, we could weigh that option based on whatever factors are present at that time.

People are doing LLR tests on this project (stats: http://sr5.psp-project.de/), so it is not "dead" dead.

True, but there is the question of whether those results are just going down the tubes since masser is AWOL.

All the results and factors are stored on my machine. And as long as there are results coming in I will let the servers run. If somebody wants to take over the complete project I will happily hand over all results to him.

Primegrid took over Riesel Sieve, but I didn't read anything about overtaking sr-base 5?

I think that it seems obvious that they intend to. They won't start until they have sieved deeply enough. That they are resieving is a different issue.

That wasn't what he was commenting on Mark. He was saying about not reading about them taking over base 5. You responded about them taking over Riesel Sieve. Better clarify there.

Others here are saying that it in no way seems obvious that they are intending to take over base 5.

How is the search being done? Old LLRnet running LLR 3.5? I certainly hope not.

Look at this reply I got at PG, from project scientist John M. Blazek:http://www.primegrid.com/forum_threa...rap=true#21938

... it may be of any kind of help or it may not. At least it gives a sort of statement of PG point of view regarding the RS5 conjecture
