Hi everyone,

Does anyone have a recent version of LLRNET?
For Windows.

It is for experementing @home :)
Can anyone explain how to set it up?

It uses an older version of LLR and has not been updated. I would recommend PRPNet for home use. You can use the latest LLR and PFGW with it.

I recommend downloading it from here so you have all the latest files (instead of just an outdated server executable): http://www.mersenneforum.org/showthr...338#post207338
Note that the current version (3.2.1) has a bug where all work is run through PFGW. Normally, bases that are a power of 2 will be sent to LLR instead, since it's faster for those. A workaround is to comment line 234 of Work.cpp and rebuild the client.

I've downloaded the zip, but apperantely I need to install a mysql db.
I am only able to set-up oracle & ms sql 2k5 but I have no clue how to start with mysql.

http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/mysql/ (this is where you download MySQL)
http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/connector/odbc/ (and this is where you get the ODBC driver that PRPNet uses)

If you don't want to mess with MySQL, you may want to try an earlier version of PRPnet that doesn't use it. MySQL support is new in v3.x and is still kind of experimental. The latest non-MySQL version is 2.4.7; you can get it here. There's one little bug in it that keeps the email notification feature from working; that's since been fixed, and Mark (a.k.a. rogue on this forum) has a patch that he can send you if you need it. Other than that, though, 2.4.7 is rock-solid and should work fine as long as you don't have an insanely huge load on the server (>50 clients on very small, i.e. n=50K or so, tests). The main reason MySQL support was added to 3.x was to allow it to handle higher loads.

If you are more familiar with LLRnet, if you are running base 2, I would now suggest the new LLRnet that uses LLR 3.8. It was conceived of by Karsten Bonath and fully developed/tested by 3 of the NPLB admins.

Clients now runs at the full speed of LLR 3.8 and so it is no longer "klunky" like it used to be.

Can anyone please explain to me how to setup a proper mySql db for LLRNET? (on windows)
I am not a complete computer illiterate but the install / configuration of mySql escapes me..

mySQL: no, not yet done myself, sorry!

With over the net I mean:

Over the internet: e.g. configure my pc @home with dyndns, then I have to test it that I can access remotely.
