Hello.
J have Compaq ML370 server 2x+2,4GHz with 3GB RAM. J have installed Windows 2000 Server. I have two instances of Prime95 with 2 Affinity set to diffrent processor. My server is reboots when Prime95 goings witout no results.txt information. J had runned stress test on the two instancess apart, but the server had rebooted only on one processor, without information of error. There are (results.txt) only many records Self-test xxxK passed! I think it is hardware problem, but J do not have any information about it. Had someone that problem, who has dual processor in computer? Thanks a lot for any opinion. |

I have a monoprocessor version of the G3 2.8 and it works fine (W2003). Maybe W2000 has some bugs in a multiprocessor environment?

Just some ideas:
Could it be related to this thread? Do you use the latest (23.8) Version of prime95? Can you try the test using less memory in the system? |

If it is rebooting, maybe you have bad memory?
Stop all Prime95 and run memtest overnight, from http://hcidesign.com/memtest/ . |

I had tested memory 5 days in new year and everything OK (docmem2_1b).
It had 56 steps in testing all memory and had found none. It isn't memory :-( but thanks for reply. |

Did you install the Compaq support software? Running two LL tests can flood bandwidth enough that the system may be doing an ASR (automatic system recovery). I would install the latest support software before you go any further.
If it runs one Prime95 fine for a couple of days on one processor, and fine for a couple of days on the other processor, then it may be that. I once ran 4 LL tests on a quad P3/800 Xeon box, it was so overloaded, you couldn't even login. Had to wait for it to ASR or turn it off. On duals, I run an LL test on CPU1 and a Trial Factoring assignment on CPU0. Keeps things running so I can term serve into the box.

J am running the new 23.8 version of Prime95 now, and J am waiting what happend. J have downloaded the newest version of the Compaq support software a week ago, but I started with the new version of Prime95. How ASR doing? Have you had the same situation of reboot, Paulie? Thanks for good intuition :-) |

I don't run prime on that quad box anymore, it became a domain controller, and I don't run prime on production boxes (except for testing and my boss' desktop machine).
I would check the integrated management log, it should tell you something. Good Luck! I don't think prime is the cause of the reboots, I would guess it is hardware related. |
