Default OSX 10.4 TCSH

Hello,
How do you get mprime to work os OSX 10.4? The shell is TCSH and I have managed to change directory to where I have unpack the files. I have tried the "./mprime -m" and it just says it is a Binary file not an executable.

Please help.

Which CPU? If you are running PPC, then it won't run as mprime is x86 only.. I suggest getting the MacIntel version of Prime95.

I am running PPC (G4). Didn't realise mprime was x86. Should have really.

I had already downloaded Glucas and Mlucas, but couldn't get those to work. I am not a shell guru sadly.

Thanks for help so far.

If you want to participate in projects with your G4, you should go over to Conjectures 'R Us. You would be able to use phrot to perform PRP tests and numbers of the form k*b^n+/-1. I do that now on my G5. You also have the option of running genefer and participating in the GFN search (or PPS) at PrimeGrid.

Thank you. I will check these out. All I have to do now is get torrent working properly on the iMac and maybe I can ditch my PC. Sadly, though, I doubt it.

I've had problems running MPrime on Mac OS X as well, although the problems were of a slightly different nature.

Try using the GUI version and see if it helps: http://www.mersenneforum.org/showthread.php?t=12155

As I stated above, a G4 cannot run mprime because it is PPC, not x86. mprime requires and x86 CPU.

I was running Glucas on my G4 before I got my Intel MacBook. If you like, I can see if I still have the binary when I get home next week.

Sorry for the delay in replying.

@RichD: That would be great, thank you. Any help in getting it to work would be boon. I really do dislike UNIX-like OS's.

Oh and the sheep is cool.

I checked the Glucas binary I was running on my Mac G4 and it has a creation date of July 2002. This was before I was running Glucas in 2005/2006. So I performed a Google search and found the one that has the exact same date & time. This is a more creditable source than me posting the same file. A lot of pre-built binaries can be found here.

Look in the folder 2.9.0 for the flavor you need. Or check out the 2.9.0-MP if you have a dual processor (which I don't have).

Start with a double-check exponent. The program is written predominantly in C (not ASM) and you are running on an older architecture.
