Could you add some more work (k=2050-2100?) so we can continue testing? I wanted to try out 3.1.5.

Hi all,
G7465 has now been upgraded to version 3.1.5, and I've loaded it with the rest of the originally-planned range (k=2050-2200). Feel free to give it a try, at your own risk of course. ![]() Gary, now that I've got the latest Linux binaries in the main PRPnet thread, you can go ahead and download those to all your quads. As I mentioned before, you can just keep your existing 3.1.4 client setups intact and swap out the prpclient file, then replicate that as needed. I'm assuming you've probably already left on your trip, but you should be able to access your various machines via VNC. Feel free to dogpile when ready. ![]() Max

You have a PM. I was hoping that just you and I would test this first but that's not working out now, due to the timing of things and that it's now been opened up to everyone via your last post. Everyone, feel free to download 3.1.5 and stress test the heck out of it. We'll keep our fingers crossed. :-) Last fiddled with by gd_barnes on 2010-01-29 at 12:58 |

Due to some issues with the 3.1.5 server crashing rather frequently, I've reverted the G7465 server to 3.1.4 per Mark's suggestion. It still has, of course, the issues with "no candidate on server" messages showing up under load, but that's better than it crashing.
Meanwhile, Mark is working on 3.1.6 and will try to reproduce the issue locally.BTW, for those of you running 3.1.5 clients, so far no issues have shown up with those so you can keep on using them if you want to use the 3.1.4 server. Meanwhile, I've set up an account for Mark on the server so he can debug stuff there as necessary. Mark, I'll email you with account details shortly. |

Right now I'm suspecting that the issue with PRPNet on that box is related to MySQL and how it is tuned. Since this is the first time I've used MySQL, it will take some time for me to understand the various tuning options and how they could impact the server.
The crashes on 3.1.5 are a mystery to me right now. One crash showed the server modifying the thread priority to an invalid value. The problem is that none of the server code modifies priority. Unfortunately I don't have a stack trace for that one. In the other case I think that the client disconnected because it waited too long for a response. I can modify the client to wait longer to reduce the likelihood of that happening. |

Was that by chance a SIGPIPE-type error? If so, then that was my bad for sending it to you; since the server was running in gdb, it would stop even for those despite the fact that the server is designed to ignore those.
