The short test for a challenge might be a good idea.
I am somewhat with Joe on the keeping primegrid to the firstpass tests only as a rule. The 2-3M test is not a bad idea and am certainly for it for one reason only... the perspective of the 2-3m test is showing if our current 1 or 2K approach is working. I would say keep PG on firstpasses unless for some reason they request the short tests... especially since they are doing their own doublechecking. |

The long tests for the challenge are nice since it really helps move the front edge of the tests forward. Also the long tests make life easier on the PG servers. Even the short tests are still 3-4 hours so server load might not be an issue for PG. Some of their other challenges are tests that are 30 min long.
I assume PG is doing their normal double checks now so the double check stuff they are doing now will actually be triple checks. If everything works out and no major problems are found I would like to see PG stay on first pass. That way we get first and second pass done and taken care of and do not waste time on a 3rd pass test. |

PG will only do a single DC test if the residue matches, but will fire off a 3rd (and potentially more) test until a matching residue is received.
