The Lucas-Lehmer test starts with the first number being 4.
Is it possible to configure Prime95 to start with a different number (10, 52, 724 ...) ? So that I could use Prime95 for testing the conjecture I've published in the Math forum. I've tested up to 86243 (26th Mersenne prime I think). More work to be done ... |

Prime95 only starts from 4.
Your conjecture was discussed eons ago in the Mersenne mailing list. I found one reference at http://www.mail-archive.com/mersenne@base.com/msg00739.html but there were more complete discussions earler on (and perhaps lost forever). |

That's a pity that all this knowledge about Mersenne numbers will disappear because it's stored in legacy mailing lists.
Don't you have plans for collecting Mersenne facts (theorems and conjectures) in the Math zone of the GIMPs, with some informal (or very simple) format ? That would help the Mersenne community. Some math student could do such a task. It could also be put in http//www.utm.edu/research/primes/index.html |

If someone knows how to harvest those old messages I can set up an "archive" forum to put them in... Being able to search all those old messages would be very nice... Any suggestions would be appreciated...
