I'm going to take this range. Everything has been factored to 65 except the very top exponent. It says 71.
Note: I don't know how many values are in this group. I am going to write a small VB application to properly format each line to work in a "worktodo" file. This might take a little bit. If there are any issues with this range, let me know. |

First exponent 2^72. It's at 2^71 now.
The rest 2^66. The VB app was a flop. It had trouble dealing with all the commas. I tried Excel. No joy there. Is there any reasonably fast way to get these formatted correctly? There are 1,166 in the group. No way am I doing all that by hand! |

UBasic or QBasic could handle the task. There is a line input function that would read the whole line as a string. Add "factor=" to the begining of string, then delete the last character of the string, then add "66" to the end. |

I was able to do it fairly quickly with MS Word, using Find and Replace.
To format the front, I searched for "980", since all my values began with that, and replaced with "Factor=980". The back was "65,," replaced with "65,66". I scrolled down to look for errors and didn't see any. There are 1166 entries, so I put "[Worker #1] at the top, and did a line search for 583, half the total, and put "[Worker #2]" there. Edit: And I see Uncwilly did the same with Notepad. Last fiddled with by storm5510 on 2009-08-17 at 20:51 Reason: Added Content |

you can use an editor which handles regular expressions:
to replace "9800xxx" with "factor=9800xx" search for: ^98 (-> means beginning of the line) replace : factor=98 to apend ,66 at the end of each line search for: $ (-> means end of line) replace : ,66 i'm using PSPad. perhaps syntax is different with other editors. |

I had to re-divide my workload. The 2^72 value at the very top, for Worker #1, is going to take 8 days to finish. So, I took just about everything else and gave it to Worker #2.
I'll post my results in this thread on a daily basis, unless somewhere else is more appropriate. |

I personally would not waste my time on a single expo from 71 to 72. I would only focus my effort on the lower ones. I don't recall, but you may be getting close to the max recommended level prior to P-1. For the 332,000,000 range it is at 75 or 76.

I was tempted to drop it out of the list. If it will not hurt anything, I will. It can always be picked up later. Below is the value to "unreserve".

I decided to let P95 contact the PrimeNet server. I sat here for what seem like ages while the server gave assignment numbers for every exponent in my worktodo file. I've also got what Windows thinks is a Shockwave Object file.
It appears the expected completion date for this batch is somewhere in late October. |
