GS, What is the best you got with c=1 ie f(x)= ax^2+bx+1?
Nice 10 sequence. Citrix |

Thanks guys. I have been running this new version for the past couple of days. One funny thing about this function is that does have mod roots for a very low prime (only 11) plus numerous others for primes under 100. I haven't checked any other 9 sequences on this point. I know at least Jens and I have tried search using polys that don't have low prime mod roots. (Apologies if my terminology is unorthodox).
Citrix, I don't know to be honest but I suspect it would be considerably harder to find a long sequence. I'm not checking specific polynomials anymore as the primes dictate the curve. I can tell you that if you pick a few primes quite close to each other (which I have been doing so that the function doesn't grow so quickly and also the search space is much narrower but fertile probability-wise), you'll get substantial c (and b) terms. Science_man, you also previously made the same claim about the same "possible" huge prime in this posting here:
http://www.mersenneforum.org/showpos...25&postcount=9 Did you think you would get a different response here? The number is too large to be tested. Period. You're getting pretty high on the "crank meter" now. Please quit wasting our time with gibberish and learn a little about the law of large #'s before posting the same gibberish in multiple places.
