It turns out that the computers at a protein-crystallography company are sometimes called upon to do calculations involving protein crystallography rather than factorisation.
So I've finished 40-43 (3376772 rels) and 49-52 (3244420 rels), uploading now, but it'll be another day or so to finish 43-49, though I've set several of my personal machines on the job. Reserving 18-19. Last fiddled with by fivemack on 2009-07-13 at 15:28 |

I've got the distribution of tasks over CPUs slightly wrong, but my jobs should still be done by Wednesday morning. Two weeks to factor a C157 is still not terribly long.

got 3376772 relations from 040-043.gz from fivemack. But now I'm getting connection problems to the ftp server:
Code:
X:\buhrow\ggnfs\4788_2422>ftp nplb-gb1.no-ip.org Connected to nplb-gb1.no-ip.org. Connection closed by remote host. |

Henry, I think you're the only one whose relations are in a state of "limbo" right now (uploaded, but not received). Do you still have the file on hand? If so, then hang on to it; we may need to use an alternate server for FTP uploads. |

The FTP server is on one of Gary's machines, and he's having some sort of problems, maybe a power outage. You can watch the progress at http://www.mersenneforum.org/showthr...870#post180870
To add to the problems, Gary is on vacation with limited Internet access. Hopefully this won't interfere too much with getting this c157 cracked... Edit: Max beat me to it. Last fiddled with by Mini-Geek on 2009-07-13 at 23:23 |

Yes, that would work if necessary. However, from my experience with previous team sieves for which we needed to use Rapidshare instead of FTP, it was a huge pain in the butt to have to download files. Unless you're a paying, registered user (which I'm not), you have to wait 45 seconds before a download will begin, *plus* you have to wait at least 15 minutes between downloads. Needless to say, it was a rather annoying experience, especially when I needed to download more than one file in direct succession.
Not meaning to presume, but I think Frank had a server set up for tranferring Aliquot sequence relations, right? That might do the trick, at least until the nplb-gb1.no-ip.org server comes back online. |
