One Question...

If I create a team and and account, if someone wants to join, does it happe automatically?
Cause I was reading this thread

Well, here's how it works:

-As soon as a user send in their first result, they are automatically added to the stats system.

-To put themselves on a team (or to create a team), all they have to do is post in the Teams thread you linked to, and as soon as AMDave sees it he'll edit the DB to put them on their requested team, and everything will be all set.

Somewhat off-topic: Dave, if, say, I went into the admin page on the DB and added a user to a team, would all of his points move with him automatically from the default no-team? Or is that a process that you have to do on your end?

So technically the Team creation is not automatically..
What sort of time frame would a user be looking at? Say 1 day?

Usually it's only a few hours, depending on when the request was posted and when AMDave logs on. Of course, depending on his answer to my question above regarding whether other administrators can also add users to teams, that may be shrunk even further.

I just want to add again.
That the Vault has been created to add some more fun to DC crunching, it has never been said it was going or wanted to replace the awesome stats site, which I use like Master Bok's.

Alot of people dont like the way the scoring works, but it works, and it is in place now, and to redo it means to much work for Nanobot. So I hope everyone understands.

I get excited when there is so much interest in the DC-Vault. I dont perfer any project over any other project, all projects have there place.

Rusty I may just remove my declination of adding another prime project to the vault in your forum.
I have to admit that it set up nicely and got work promptly and so far seems stable.
The work units are very short which is an attractive aspect over other prime projects.
This just may be worth adding to the vault in my opinion.

Thanks rusty. I once had something similar to the vault as you know and it was somewhat of a pain to maintain. I too grew a little bored and have recently looked to alternate challenges, like getting all the badges at WCG and at Yoyo, so it's not that much different than scoring points for the vault in some ways. As an aside, I'm not sure how much Nano needs to maintain his scripts, but given most all of the projects you maintain, I do stats for, I could very simply generate some consistent data for you all to parse instead of going to every project.. If you wish, any kind of format too. (I already do scripts for DPC and TA amongst others to pull data for just their own teams.. )

But we digress..

Back on topic, I should have the site and forum up and running in the morning.

Hang in there, once the new Server and Forum gets up, there maybe a way, no, I know Bok will find away to interface the forum registration values into the database if the user has returned any work

Or something like that... it's all magic I swear
