Without entering the BIOS, is there some way that i can monitor the temperature of my CPU while prime95 is running. I am interested in keeping an eye on it, especially seeing it is summer here in Australia now and my room isn't all that cool.
(BTW:- I can't wait until winter comes. I want to see if my computer can keep my room warm). |

Also, check the CD that contain your motherboard drivers. This is, of course, assuming you received it when you purchased your motherboard or computer.
Many times the motherboard manufacturer puts utilities on the CD which monitor the temperature of your motherboard and CPU. If it is not on the CD or you did not receive a CD, find out what company made your motherboard and check the company's website for some temperature monitoring utility. |

I use MBProbe, it is very small ( 102 kb program ) and easy to configure (uses a right click on the tray icon which can bring up a properties menu), it sits in the system tray and shows the temp or alternates temps if you configure it that way.
If the mouse cursor rests on it, it shows a tooltip with current values, I have it set to show MB temp, CPU temp, CPU fan speed. You can set alarms ( audible, visual, or even run some other program ( ie quick shutdown utility ) ). Works from Windows 95 to XP. http://mbprobe.livewiredev.com/index.html |

I'm another fan of Motherboard Monitor - it seems to have the widest support for various different motherboards of any of the programs out there, and is highly configurable to monitor lots of different things, not just the CPU temp.
Sometimes it's NICE to be able to tell that you have a CPU fan that's running slower than it used to, so you can replace it *before* it fails and kills the CPU.... |
