Which settings to choose for best work?

Hello,

at the moment I use prime95 to Double-Check. I have Windows Vista, an Genuine Intel T2050 @ 1,60 GHz with CPU speed 1596,00 MHz, 2 cores and my "time per iteration" fluctuate between 0,289 and 0,111 sec.

I am using just one worker window at the moment (because the Double Check is about 95 % ready and I want it finished as quickly as possible).

Settings:
Number of worker windows to run: 2
CPU affinity: Run on any CPU
Daytime/Nighttime available memory: 256 MB
multithreading: 1 (grey; not to choose)

How can I get more speed? Is every setting at its best?

That's a large fluctuation...check if anything besides Prime95 is using a large portion of the CPU.

If your CPU has two physical cores, you should be able to run a second worker window without any practical speed lowering. If your CPU has one physical core and it's just hyperthreaded, you should expect a drop in the speed when two worker windows are running. You can also expect a drop in overall throughput if you have one worker window using two threads, instead of two windows with one thread each. But you shouldn't have to only run one worker window on one core to finish it quicker. Then again maybe I'm misinterpreting a lot of this and you're saying that you're suspending the second window/thread so that you can make the first window use two threads. That's fine, and should mean a just under double speed up. (overall throuhgput is down a bit)

The settings seem fine to me, but like I said earlier, the large fluctuations indicate it is likely that some other process (or overheating/throttling issue) is using a lot of CPU.

Change this to:
Number of worker windows to run: 1
Multithreading: 2

Other than that, check if something else is taking up the CPU.
