I've been looking for the undoc.txt so that I can lower the Prime95's usage just to be safe and not overheat my comp but I don't know where it is, does anyone else know?

It is in the same directory where you installed Prime95. It says this:
"If you are running on a laptop or in a hot room and you want to slow the program down to reduce heat, then you can add this line to prime.ini: Throttle=n where n is the number of milliseconds to sleep after each iteration." Let's say your computer spends 130ms per iteration. If you add Throttle=20 in prime.ini, your computer will go at 150ms/iteration and the CPU charge will be about 86%. It is for you to figure out what exact value to put in to get the desired CPU charge. The throttle works with LL tests, don't worry if you get 100% charge when you do factoring or P-1. |

Directory = Folder
Assuming you did nothing strange in the install, it should be on the hard drive => in program files => in prime95. If you still can't find it, use the find or search tool (depending on your operating system) in the start menu. Searching for undoc.txt will find it for you. Also, if you are worried about overheating, be sure your fan is clear of all dust. Last fiddled with by nfortino on 2003-12-12 at 21:49 |
