The only one that beat's it is the xigmatek, but then again I think that's a lapping (contanct) issue difference.

Personally I lap everything both the cpu and heatsink. I have even lapped the socket-a's with exposed die's when needed. I've generally found lapping is good for another degree C or two in all instances, more if something is wrong with the manufacturing.

@Ungelovende when it comes to water cooling I really think you should build your own... especially since most people want 200+ for a good kit.

There seems to be only a minimal difference between both coolers
and the noctua has a very low noise profile.
Might be that the ultra is better for extreme overclocking but thats
not the way I want to go.

Holysmokes!!! According to that review the noctua does really well. guess the fin spacing reduces the backpressure quite a bit which helps on noise.

So far no overclocking but the new cooler is installed and i am very happy with it.

CPU temp with the intel cooler was ~78°C with a MB temp of 47°C(peek CPU temp above 80°C)

With the noctua the average is down to 62-64°C with an MB temp of 42-44°C (with peek temperatures on the CPU of 68-70°C)
The temperature stays constant even if I let the GPU run F@H.
This was a test that was not even possible with the old cooler as the CPU temp did rise due to the increasing temperature within the case.

Next step will be some better case fans and then I will have to find out which parameteres i should change for overclocking. My first target will be 3GHz.

That looks pretty good one question would be what is the temperature of the board and CPU at idle. Also how accurate are the MB and CPU temps on the newer systems?

I found that having more fans blow in the case ensure better cooling than the reverse. On my Antec P180 case I reversed the top fan from blowing air out to blowing in and the temperatures dropped markedly. Another known advantage is that dust is no longer sucked in through the many holes a case has (round the optical peripherals and expansion cards among others.) If you manage to filter the air blown in, dust is no longer a big problem.

Idle temperature is 32-34°C with the new cooler and was 38-40°C with the old one. There was not much diffference between core and MB temp.

There are already two fans in my case one front blowing in and the rear one blowing out. But compared with their noise the airflow is not very good. I found that with the noctua cooler installed the CPU temperature is more influenced by the ambiend temperature in the case as with the intel cooler.

For example with the intel cooler the core temperature stays even with MB temp going to 50°C But with the noctua at a MB temperature of 48°C i have a CPU temperature increase to 70-72°C.

So case/MB cooling is the key.

I have orderd the same noctua cooler, and hope to get it early next week.

I have been faktoring one week with stock cooler @2900. 4 workers - total 8 threads. CPU temp 71-72°C on stage 1. MB temp 39°C.

With default settings in bios, and no OC my CPU temp was 77-78°C. Out of the box Volt on auto gave 1,33 V (!) I have reduced it to 1,25 V. I have also reduced mem speed to 1160 MHz during OC.
