That was an unexpected bonus effect because of the transparency of the font in the text layer.

I added another with the binary codes at the bottom of the letters.

Yeah that's pretty cool. (gel_lightning_blue) I don't like the one with the binary at the bottom of the letters like that...it's too obvious, I was thinking something where it's more subtle and mysterious (e.g. my suggestion to have the 32 bits repeated faintly inside the text or on the background...do you think you could do that?), almost like it's just random bits and not "NPLB".

I did start down that track and then backed off. It is actually quite hard to do.
It not only involves another layer but trying to line them up and messing with the transparency properties started to make me

If we could get it into Photoshop, layer masks should make it fairly easy. If you don't have Photoshop or don't have much experience with it, you could give me all applicable files (with proper transparency) and I could throw something together. A PSD or two PNGs (the background and the text, the latter would need variable transparency, or if you could make it fully opaque and give that image I could lower its opacity, it just wouldn't be precisely the same) would work.

Attached is an example. I found that the background is "lightning-storm" (and was able to put spaces as the text so that I got just the background image) but can't find a blue gel font that looks the same. What is that font's name on spiffytext?
Anyway, I got a workable version of the text by editing the white out of the one of that has that text on the plain background, and figured out how to get a layer mask of the text on the bits in the background, Anyway look at the pic. It's 41% right now, I think it needs to be a little fainter.
