I think it's high time that we had a rally! We should have the fresh new 8th drive to run the rally on so what does everyone think of running a rally over the Jan. 23rd-25th weekend on that drive? The usual start and end times of 7 PM GMT will be in order.
For a top-5000 range, these will be some quick tests so there should be more results processed than in previous rallies. We may want to set up a temporary server or two. We need to make the teams mean something so let's rock! I think ROLP is going to whoop on Free-DC. ![]() Gary |

Sure why not, I'm in. My reservation should finish at right about that time anyway.

The discussion about when to run what ranges on the 9th drive was moved to the 9th drive thread.

Hey everyone, for informational purposes only, please post how many cores you will be bringing to the rally. The rally will be run solely on port 8000.
We now have a virtually guaranteed ironclad server this time. With the extensive testing of our 9th drive on port 9000, which topped 270,000 small n-range k/n pairs one day, it is clear that a single port can handle whatever we throw at it for the rally. But...no proxy servers! ![]() I'll bring all 40 of my fast cores and if one of my slower Window's machines gets bored, I might add a couple of slower cores too. I think the Free-DCers need to bring some more power to the rally this time. Come on guys, bring it on. Let's see if you can top ROLP! :-) Gary Last fiddled with by gd_barnes on 2009-01-20 at 06:26 |

Bring it on dudes! I'll put "100's" in Max's post for cores for Free-DC. lolI hope we can get 200+ cores running your server this time around. Maybe we'll get up past 16-17 sockets being used like we have been on port 9000. BTW, although I have an ID set up there and made a few posts 3-4 months ago, I'm not too familiar with the whole Free-DC forum set up; where to post stuff; what is an appropriate way to advertise stuff, etc. If you can do some promotion, that would be great...or reference me to the correct thread(s) to do so. Thanks, Gary |
