I do not even know where to begin after reading through the FAQ section. I cannot link to any of my previous 13 cpus running v4. I have apparently lost all my work. None of my v4 cpus ever communicated or appeared to resynchronize with v5. What is going on? How can I recover or pick up where the v4 cpus were running? I could only one one todo file on each 4 core machine and not 4 separate todo files.

First you must create a v5 account.
Then you must link your v4 account to that v5 account (use the UserID and pasword as found in the prime.ini file.) Be carefull before tampering with the files : make a backup. If you had more than one v4 UserId, repeat for all... Your computers should be able to synchronise with the v5 server, that way they will : - send any pending results - register their work in progress and reserved with the v5 server. You can optionally upgrade your prime95 clients to v25.7. Be carefull with mutlicore computers if you used the -a startup option : you have to comibne the worktodo.ini files in a single worktodo.txt file, preceding the content of each file by a different "[Worker#x] header, for instance for a quadcore : Code:
[Worker #1] DoubleCheck=19325850,66,1 [Worker #2] Test=27460746,68,1 [Worker #3] Factor=46989707,63 Factor=40899675,63 Factor=30525971,66 Factor=42954265,63 Factor=44766425,64 Factor=48163532,64 Factor=47156717,64 [Worker #4] Test=36026665,68,1 Test=38512490,68,1 You would use the same principle if you had different instances of prime95 running from different directories. You must choose a new computer name for all cores together and put all save files (pxxxxxxxx, qxxxxxxx and mxxxxxxx.003 in the v25.7 directory. Be carefull before tampering with the files : make a backup. |

NO, your work is NOT LOST! It's just temporarily not yet linked to v5, but will be linked/copied soon. Don't give up on, or delete, any of your files! See http://mersenneforum.org/showpost.ph...62&postcount=8 |
