How can we suggest anything? We don't know all the details yet!
If the Sep6 discovery is smaller than the previous then a simple "Finding 11 world record primes" would be appropriate. If it is larger then "Finding 12 world record primes" would be perfectly fine. So which is it? |

So, is this saying that MSep is smaller than MAug? I think it is. If MSep was bigger than MAug, he wouldn't say Bingo or ask for suggestions.
BTW assuming MSep is smaller, I'd suggest making it "12 primes" instead of "11/12 world record primes", so it's still 100% accurate, but still shows the full number of primes GIMPS has discovered. Unfortunately, that would remove the effect of calling them world record. |

How about keeping the integrity level high and replace it with the more appropriate "Finding 11 world record primes". Yeah? |

A good friend of mine once said: "That's not a lie, it's a future truth".
Or as Phil Moore suggested it's 11 world record primes and 1 world-record out-of-order Mersenne prime. 11+1 = 12. Last fiddled with by Prime95 on 2008-09-16 at 12:41 |

Repeating my post from the batman thread:
Congratulations and thanks to everyone!!!! GIMPS is a group effort. While a few lucky discoverers get the glory, they couldn't have done it without all the hard work put in by the rest of you. You are hereby ordered to have a celebratory drink tonight. Thanks too for your patience during the verification and announcement process. |
