Thoughts about the next rally after this one: The next rally will be on our new k<300 drive. Anon and I talked about having it exactly 2 weeks after this one. But since the Sierp base 5 project is having an ongoing rally thru Sept. 24th to try to find a prime there, I'm going to suggest that we have it 3 weeks after this one. That will put it running the weekend of Sept. 26th-28th, which should work out well, won't interfere with their rally, and will allow people to put max cores on both projects when they are needed. I will only be able to bring 7 quads to the rally. But I'm going to add 4 slower cores for all of the rally and perhaps 2 more slower cores for part of it if I can bum my kid's laptop for a while. So a total of 28 fast cores and 4 (or 6) slow cores.
We got the 4 new quads built, loaded, and ready to run but we're going to need to add another electrical line for the final 3, which will likely take until early next week. The breaker box started buzzing when I started running the 8th quad off of the one 20-amp circuit and the line running to it was getting a bit warm. No use burning down the house to find primes! lol |

i could'nt join the rally, because i got no internet-access at home (on work won't work).
my personal 'rally' is to make the stats for the last one!!! will be online on Monday! so big fun for all and find some more primes (694 overall so far, new and confirmed!!!). hope to insert a new Milestone after this rally! Last fiddled with by kar_bon on 2008-09-05 at 09:41 |

Anon,
I saw your note about not counting k=289 as part of the rally. Personally, I don't see a problem in counting it. With a starting n-value of 520K, it's so close to the other servers that it won't give much of an unfair advantage to people who run it. Let me know what you think. After I get the electrical situation taken care of, I'll likely put a couple of cores on it or whatever it takes to clean up k=289 to n=600K in advance of starting the n<300 drive. There's no use searching n>600K until we have n<=600K searched. ![]() Gary Last fiddled with by gd_barnes on 2008-09-05 at 09:43 |

Excellent! Do you know how many cores you will bring and on which port(s)? Thanks, Gary Last fiddled with by gd_barnes on 2008-09-05 at 17:17 |
