At least the work isn't totally wasted, because one of you would get credited for double-checking.

GIMPS is generous; both would get credit. (Dunno about PrimeNet credit, though.)

Just wait and it will show in the "P" column.

Fake! The numbers in all the columns haven't changed much over the last three weeks and neither in your attachment. Therefore there has not been a sync in either since the day George returned or the Mersenne Prime was reported to the server.

I happened to have copies of cleared.txt when the first test of 20623513 and 21087943 were returned, and the non-masked parts of the residues match. I am missing the cleared.txt from when 19825909 was first returned.

Furthermore, I can confirm that "Prime UNVERIFIED" first occurred in the report from 08:00 UT.

Well, nice to see the 07:00 and 08:00 reports so we know for sure that it was during that hour, but I'm pretty sure when I put down ~21M I meant to put down ~28M, which is the same value philmoore suggested (closer to 29M actually). It's a first-time test.

I have a question to George, Scott (that's the name of the one that runs the server right?), and whoever else might be in the know...why intentionally hide a new prime from the community? I can understand wanting to not release it as a press release and have the news spread everywhere before a verification is done (and then potentially have to retract your statement), but can't you still let us know what it is? Perhaps to try to let us know it but not the general press/news/public, you could just go back to the old residue generator and put it on the real prime, and not allow us to explicitly state the new exponent on the forums. Or maybe have an expanded list of people to get the news that has the number of the prime.

If the one with algorithm residue is fake like we think now, I think its the LL that was turned in just few min before the fake one. Server probably setup so that if it get a zero residue it put a fake on the next LL turned in.

it makes sense, that the fake residue is put on a number which is returned in the same hour as the new prime. That happene also here. That way it dies not happen, that the residue of the fake prime changes between two hourly reports.

At least we have a 11/13 (or even 12/13) chance that the prime has 10 million digits.
