My house gets very hot during the day while I'm gone. I don't want to fry my CPUs (I have 3 PCs running--one factoring and two LL). I want my PCs to automatically completely stop crunching numbers Sundays-Thursdays at noon and then to automatically resume Sundays-Thursdays at 6p. Fridays and Saturdays I want them to run all day & night.
Do I have to manually change the prime.ini file? I've read the readme.txt information but if someone could please tell me me what to change in it I would appreciate. Below is my prime.ini file. Thank you. ---------------------------------------- StressTester=1 UsePrimenet=1 Left=44 Top=44 Right=812 Bottom=562 DialUp=0 DaysOfWork=5 WorkPreference=16 OldUserID= OldUserPWD= UserID=[removed for posting] UserPWD=[removed for posting] UserName=[removed for posting] UserEmailAddr=[removed for posting] Newsletters=1 OutputIterations=10000 ResultsFileIterations=999999999 DiskWriteTime=30 NetworkRetryTime=2 NetworkRetryTime2=60 DaysBetweenCheckins=28 TwoBackupFiles=1 SilentVictory=0 AskedAboutMemory=1 Windows95Service=1 |

Thank you. I edited my prime.ini file by adding the following two line:
Time=1-4,7/0:00-12:00,1-4,7/8:00-24:00 Time=5-6/0:00-24:00 I'll try that and see if it works. |

I recommend using the Throttle= setting. It slows down mprime and keeps your laptops and power bricks cooler in the summer.

Isn't there a command line option to signal a shutdown request? Most resource-intensive programs tend to have that now, and usually it's a second, smaller program. You could just use the task scheduler. I've made batch files before in Windows, that tells eMule to shutdown, disables the Internet, and then does the opposite when my ISP is no longer busy. If this option is not in a distributed-computer program, then it certainly should be!
