CRUS gained greatly as a result of one HUGE prime found by Rogue and two in the n=520K-540K range found by me. His was a megabit prime that proved the Sierp base 11 conjecture! It finally put CRUS in the top-20 score on projects.

I think RPS and many larger projects have had some of their larger contributors idle their machines for some of the summer months. This is a great accomplishment! Our primes are having a significant impact in raising the 5000th prime causing negative scores by other projects. By the end of the year, we should be in 9th or 10th place or possibly higher. Congrats and thanks to all of our faithful contributors! ![]() Gary Last fiddled with by gd_barnes on 2008-07-10 at 19:29 Reason: Remove quoted table |

Mini-Geek, would you post another scores table stats? It looks like RPS edged us out on score for the first time in a while 111-72 since the last posting as of this post. I think they had 3 very large primes.
I'm hoping I'll have at least one or two primes for n>600K from the individual-reservations thread on my machines when I get home to somewhat counter theirs. Gary |

Thanks for the analysis. Oops, it looks like you put in the scores from last time, although the differences appear correct. Can you put the updated stats in? The score between RPS and us is currently 4662-835. You can just copy your last post into another one and then I'll delete the incorrect one. RPS only gets smaller primes for larger k-values, which take longer to LLR, so the search for those is more limited. They got 3 big primes and 1 HUGE prime: Here's the one that equalled almost all of ours combined: 81*2^1335675-1 (score 69) The other three: 291*2^996371-1 (from the tail-end of their 5th drive; score 28) 3539*2^869868-1 (score 19) 167*2^832962-1 (score 16) Strangely, this adds up to a score of 132 for them but the raising of the 5000th prime dropped them down to their score increase of 111. The same thing happens for all projects including ours. There is no way to control other projects finding large primes so any win streak that we have is predicated on other projects not finding one for an extended period. The key is that our score gains against most others over a long period of time, which is mostly has with the exception of the one timeframe where several other projects found very large primes all at once. Aw, we lost our winning streak. Did they get a huge prime or just lots of small ones?Ok, fixed that. I must have deleted the new scores column by accident. I already deleted the source files (with the score from when I pulled the results to make this the first time), so I replaced it with the newest scores. The difference should be minor, if any. I only fixed it in the one where the scores come first, not the change (rather not double the work for something that doesn't really matter). Last fiddled with by gd_barnes on 2008-06-24 at 06:33 |

RPS had an excellent run of primes helped by their new 6th drive and Riesel Sieve found a huge prime. We're still doing well! Everyone keep those crunchers crunching! ![]() Gary |

I thought everyone might find this interesting. Here is a grand total of scores change since we started the list in this thread:

-65802 Seventeen or Bust
Many of the top projects found huge primes early on after we started the list. It will take up to 2 years for everything to even out to get a good idea of where we really stand in total. New comment 2009/06/03: In this past month, we moved into 3rd place on total score change! :-) Gary Last fiddled with by gd_barnes on 2009-06-04 at 00:57 Reason: update score changes and subsequent comments |
