Is there any way that someone could produce 32- and 64-bit Linux and Windows executables of the pol51opt and pol51m0b programs from ggnfs?

(the version of pol51opt that I have, which is I think the most recent but still very old snapshot of ggnfs from sourceforge, has leaked 6GB of memory after running for eight hours; is there a less leaky version around? pol51m0b seems fine)

Sure. You can find binaries compiled from the most recent source at http://physics.fullerton.edu/gchilders/polsel.tar.bz2.

Are these files windows-binaries? When I start pol51opt (from this source) in windows, I get an error message "program to big for RAM".

No, these are Linux. Try Sergey's windows binaries. Otherwise, I can fire up MSYS and try to compile them.

I am using windows binaries from version 0.77.1-20060513-win32-pentium4.

Do you have newer binaries?

Other than Jason's experimental code, no changes have been made in years so I doubt there is any difference.

I don't know if they are any different but I've built
- pentium4
- pentium-m
- prescott
- nocona
Try them all, before replacing your existing binaries - your mileage may vary. One thing for sure, the pol51opt doesn't leak memory.
