I bet George's "The manual pages don't really work" was referring only to assignment reservation and clearing functions on that page, not to the manual test results check-in function. It's quite possible for one function to work even though others on the same page don't work. I stand by my recommendations about manual test result check-in. Guys, I never wanted to start this agitation. I simply asked. This time I did exactly what I wrote above (and what you suggested) -- I m-c-in'ed the two exponents and will not email them and we'll see when they will show up. There's no problem, they are not prime anyway. Two weeks make no difference to me. |

Checking results in with the manual pages has worked for me, most recently some TF results about a week ago, and before that the LL results for two exponents from this thread back in December.
The LL results did not show up in any primenet reports (v4 back then), just the next update of the gimps files. (As it says on the check-in part of the manual page, GIMPS test results are credited for research when submitted manually, but are not credited by Internet PrimeNet Server.) I understood George processed the results from the manual pages for the gimps database, and that it was simpler for him than collating results from emails. I guess it did the batching up for him. The recent results showed up in the v5 primenet reports. Last fiddled with by markr on 2008-03-27 at 12:31 |

Anonymous,
Oh, okay. I had completely forgotten what markr points out: Quote:
Does this satisfactorily explain everyone's discrepant experiences with regard to the manual page -- that we can't determine whether manual check-ins are successfully recorded or not by looking only at V4 reports? Last fiddled with by cheesehead on 2008-03-28 at 00:44 |

O Ye of little faith! The LLama is right! http://www.mersenne.org/ips/manualtests.html#checkins is very much alive. It does work with a big delay (but two weeks is probably the worst case) - today many checkins (form V4 as well as submitted manually and not emailed) showed up. And that's only three or four days' delay.
http://v5www.mersenne.org/report_ll/...B1=Get+LL+data The other three numbers I run on another comp - their ETA is April 5. |

I rewrote the program to create the list of exponents that have been abandoned based on the new server output. I have to query the server about 20 times to get only a partial list because of the 10,000 rows rule. I would like to download the database in a weekly or daily created zip file which is auto generated, but alas.
I updated the list in the first post as of April 1. |

Done, and checked-in (I've transferred one of the machines to V5, so they were checked-in real-time).
And now, I'll try some 77Ms. They take forever though, but the numbers look nice, e.g. M77777177, M77777377. The round-off looks stable and I'll do them on the Opteron server, it stays up for 365 days - until the yearly UPS checkup.
