Admin edit: This response was in reference to a discussion about setting up new LLRnet servers for CRUS in the NPLB forum.
crus.ironbits.net what port you wanna use? ;) I'll keep the port forwarding to myself to avoid the confusion in the future. Last fiddled with by gd_barnes on 2008-03-21 at 09:20 Reason: First line |

Well, I created a crus.ironbits.net so what port you want on it and where is my knpairs.txt to load it up?
I can also add a sierp6.ironbits.net and sierp16.ironbits.net and rb16.ironbits.net if you like ;p Now, what ports did you really want to use, and where's my knpairs.txt to load up the Server(s) :p :) |

Before we can decide what port to use, though, we need to decide which numbers to put on the server. Gary, which one do you think we should do: Sierp. base 6, Sierp. base 16, or Riesel base 16? I was more leaning towards Sierp. base 6, since that drive has gotten the least attention so far, and it would be interesting to do LLRnet on a base that's not a power of 2 for a change. ![]() Once we've picked out what numbers to put on the server, we can put together a knpairs.txt file for IronBits, and pick out a port for it (probably a port number that is in some way related to the base would be kind of cool).

It doesn't matter to me what port number you want to use,
I'll remap it to another port via my Smoothwall firewall anyways. Looks like 6 and 16 are free, so you can have your cake and eat it 2. erm 6 :-) http://www.networksorcery.com/enp/pr...ports00000.htm Give me knpairs for both, and I'll bring them both up. ![]() As for getting knpairs for both, though: I think we should stick to one CRUS server for now, or else we risk spreading that project's few resources too thin. I'm pretty sure Gary will be OK with Sierp. base 6, though, so I'll go put together a small knpairs.txt from it. That way, if we decide not to do Sierp. base 6 after all, it won't be too hard to dry that server out.

Okay IronBits, here's a small knpairs.txt for Sierp. base 6, to put on a new port 6 server.

Okay...will do shortly.
![]() Please note all: you'll need to use the SR5 version of LLRnet for this since it's a non-power-of-2 base. You can get it either in the Sierpinski/Riesel Base 5 forum, or in the Conjectures 'R Us "Automated primality testing with LLRnet" thread. ![]() Now if only I could get my hands on a version of the SR5 Linux LLRnet that doesn't core dump every time I try to start it on my Ubuntu system (this is a known bug). In the meantime, though, I'll use my manual LLRnet method to talk to the new server.

Linkages would be nice, so folks like me wouldn't have to go a hunting in dangerous places,
and be assured of getting and selecting the correct application for Windows. ;) Does it use the same llr-clientconfig.txt setup file? Last fiddled with by IronBits on 2008-03-20 at 03:40 |

Well, I've grabbed 60 tests from the new server and am now crunching them with manual LLR. I originally grabbed 100, but my stock LLRnet client is so quick at recognizing that it can't do base 6 tests and thus marking them as an error, it had plowed through 40 of them in the split second before I could hit Ctrl-C and stop it.
Once I had shut down the client, though, I was able to move workfile.txt to my manual LLR folder and get started on the remaining 60 tests I had in my queue. ![]() (In case anyone was wondering, yes, those 40 bad test will be automatically reassigned by the server. )
