something i missed?

so i think it's time to give an overview of the status of the servers.
what about a new thread with some info to install/handle/promblems/ports?
a post with the status of actual k/n pairs: which sort? how many done? how many to go?
some statistics of contributors or only primes found yet?
something like that.

you opinion?
I'll generate stats periodically--maybe every 10K or 20K. I've got a script written to do that easily.

Announcement has been posted!

Should I lock this thread now that the LLRnet server has left the "testing" stage?

P.S.: Karsten, you had requested a thread with instructions on how to crunch for the LLRnet server--I've included that information in the announcement thread.

Still missing instructions on how to run LLRNet on multiple cores and tell that, with the current n size, the maximum allowed time for a user to complete a job is 7 days.

I would suggest holding off locking this thread until both servers have been running in a stable manner for ~2-4 weeks or a month.

Great job on the instructions Anon! I think even a server dunce like me can figure them out now!

Okay, I'll add information for that. Thanks!

Thanks.

About locking the thread: OK, that sounds good.

in the anouncement i missing this description/explanation:

- parameter in llr-clientconfig.txt: 'once = 1' -> only one test if uncommented!

- parameter in llr-clientconfig.txt: WUCacheSize = n
#of tests to load from server so the client don't have to be online all the day! (could be misunterstood to do so, newcomesr could be scared and don't join this!)

I covered once=1 in one of the FAQ questions I posted, I'll add another one for WUCacheSize. Please note that if you download LLRnet from CRUS, your WUCacheSize is set to 10 by default.

Edit: Okay, I added it to the FAQ.

Just received an email from my ISP provider and my connection will double speed. Will go to maximum downstream rate of 16 Mbps and maximum upstream rate of 1 Mbps. The bad news is that for downstream rate I am limited by my Zoom ADSL PCI Modem (8 Mbps).

16 Mbps! Way cool!

BTW, have you considered just getting a regular DSL modem that plugs in between the phone line and a router? That shouldn't have any speed limitations besides the 100Mbps limit of Fast Ethernet (I doubt any DSL modem would have Gigabit Ethernet).
