Larger Prescott Cache = Speed Improvement?

Will Prime95 see any speed increase due to Prescott's larger L2 cache? Maybe if it's given a seperate code path optimized for it's cache?

Offhand, I think it should show some improvement - not huge, but noticeable.

What *I* want to see right now is a Prime95 benchmark on one of those "EE" Pentium 4's - the ones that are repackaged 2Meg cache P4-Xeons....

I think Prescott not only have a 1MB L2 but also a 16K L1 instead of a 8K L1.

Agreed, anyone getting one? Anyone know what the retail price is going to be? It's my understanding these are going to be very rare.

The retail price will be very similar to what a Northwood would cost.

I am, providing they have them in shops by the time of my next planned upgrade ... end of Nov. my minimum box speed rises to 3 GHz ...

the p4EE will be sold for just $1000 according to some websites... so i don't think too many people will be purchasing one of those. any news on athlon64's performance with prime95???
